You see, there will be many that are caught off guard when the Lord returns because they have fooled themselves into believing that they are a Child of God because they have said a prayer, walked an isle in a church service, or have their name on the church membership role. No where in the Word of God does it every equate saying a prayer, walking an isle, or someone's name being on the church's memebreship role with salavation. Jesus also says right before these verses that I quoted that a person that is a "true" Child of God is one that produces good fruit and that people will know them by that fruit. Someone might aske then, "Is every Christian perfect and without sin?" Absolutely, NOT!! Paul tells us that he and we will still stuggle with the war that takes place between the old flesh and the new. But what it does mean is that the believer has fruits in their life that shows others that the Lord is now in control of their life. The believer will still fall and sin, but that is not the lifestyle that they will live in. It is only a temporary state not a continual state of life. My encouragement to you is that you check your salvation. It is not my goal to cause to question your salvation but rather that you reaffirm your salavtion. If you are a Child of God, make sure that you are producing the fruit that shows those around you the Lord. And if you are not, then I pray that you will seach the Scriptures or contact me and I would be happy to show you what the Lord says about salvation. So that you might experience the new life found in and through Jesus Christ.
I wonder if the Lord returned today, how many "Christians" would be surprised that they would not be one of the "elect"? Jesus says in Matthew 7:21-23 KJV, "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them. I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."
